04 January 2017

Happy New Year everyone! The New Year is the perfect time to take a step back from your life and think ‘how can I improve this’? Many people find that a January clear out can not only physically help clear the space around you, but also help in mentally clearing out your mind making it easier to organise your plans and aims for the future. Today we’re sharing a few of our tips for the New Year and how you can make this one your year of great style!

Clear Out & Reorganise

Clear Out & Reorganise

The first step to a refreshed wardrobe is to have a clear out. I’m sure we’re all guilty of keeping hold of items ‘just in case’, but let’s face it, most of the time we’re just wasting space in our wardrobe that could be used in better ways. So whether you want to sell them on second hand, pass them on to friends & family, or take some bags down the charity shop, here’s how to tackle the wardrobe clear out… Set aside some time, and get some boxes or bags. Take everything out of your wardrobe – and we mean everything! It can seem a bit overwhelming, but it also makes you realise how much stuff you actually have, which will have a positive effect on the task.

Re-Think & Plan Ahead

Sort all of your clothing into 3 piles names; keep, toss, or maybe. The maybe is only if you really really have a hard time deciding — you’ll put these in a box and store them for 6 months, getting rid of them after that time if you never needed them. The keep pile is for stuff you really love and actually use — if you haven’t used it for 6 months, put it in the toss pile. Really put some thought into which items are key pieces and which haven’t earned their place in your wardrobe.

Re-Think & Plan Ahead

Be Seasonless

In order to make the most out of your wardrobe all year round, invest in items that can be wearable throughout all seasons. Achieve this by selecting clothing that can be layered. Layering up with coats, cardigans and jumpers throughout the colder months, then embrace the item on its own throughout the warmer seasons.

Invest in Wardrobe Staples

Invest in Wardrobe Staples

A classic wardrobe is a timeless wardrobe. In order to make the most out of the clothing you buy, opt for classic items. There are a few items that every woman’s wardrobe needs; these are the essentials! We’re talking about a great pair of jeans that fit and flatter and can be worn all year round! Blue or black, whichever takes your fancy, but these are undoubetleby a wardrobe must-have.

Stay True to your Personal Style

No matter what trends come and go, it’s important to always consider your personal style. In the long term, your personal style will trump fashion trends. But that doesn’t mean to say that you should stay away from trends all together; instead try embracing the styles that feel appropriate to you. Only you can make this decision, so sit down and plan how you really want your style to be. Pinterest is a great platform for planning outfits and building style inspiration.
